Di Tert Butyl Peroxide (DTBP)

purpose
Initiators for the polymerization or copolymerization of ethylene, styrene, acrylic esters, and methyl acrylic esters, DTBP can be used for the polymerization or copolymerization of styrene within the temperature range of 95 ℃ to 185 ℃. In practice, two or more peroxides with different activities are often used in combination to reduce the residual amount of monomers in the final polymer and improve reactor efficiency. In the bulk polymerization method, DTBP can effectively increase the polymerization rate of styrene. During the polymerization reaction, the temperature gradually increases. We will now compare the styrene polymerization reactions initiated by heat and DTBP (with a DTBP dosage of 0.16 mmol/100g styrene) using a typical temperature scheme. DTBP is an effective initiator for ethylene polymerization under high pressure in both pot and tube methods. In practical production, in order to obtain a wide range of polymerization temperatures, it is often used in combination with other peroxides. According to different reaction conditions, DTBP exhibits activity within the temperature range of 240-280 ℃. The polymerization of acrylate and methacrylate can be carried out using DTBP as an initiator for the bulk and suspension polymerization or copolymerization of acrylate and methacrylate within the temperature range of 130-175 ℃.
