Manufacturing process of FRP ship

The production of FRP yachts usually adopts the hand-layup molding process, and the specific steps are as follows:

1. Make a mold: According to the design drawings of the yacht, make a mold with the same shape as the yacht. The mold can be made of wood, metal or other materials, and the accuracy and surface quality of the mold need to be guaranteed.

2. Prepare materials: Prepare the required FRP materials, including glass fiber cloth, unsaturated polyester resin, curing agent, accelerator, etc.

3. Apply mold release agent: Apply a layer of mold release agent on the surface of the mold so that the yacht can be demolded smoothly after molding.

4. Lay glass fiber cloth: Lay the glass fiber cloth on the surface of the mold in a certain direction and order, and compact it with a brush or roller to make it fit closely with the mold surface.

5. Apply resin: Mix the unsaturated polyester resin with the curing agent and accelerator in a certain proportion, and then apply it on the glass fiber cloth with a brush or spray gun to make it fully soaked.

6. Repeat laying and painting: According to the thickness requirements of the yacht, repeat the steps of laying fiberglass cloth and painting resin until the required thickness is reached.

7. Curing: Place the yacht painted with resin in a well-ventilated environment and let it cure naturally. The curing time depends on the type of resin and the ambient temperature, and generally takes several hours to several days.

8. Demolding: After the yacht is completely cured, demold it from the mold. Be careful when demolding to avoid damaging the surface of the yacht.

9. Trimming and polishing: Trim and polish the yacht after demolding to remove burrs and uneven parts on the surface to make it smooth.

10. Install equipment and accessories: Install engines, propellers, steering gears, seats, consoles and other equipment and accessories according to the design requirements of the yacht.

11. Inspection and testing: Inspect and test the yacht with installed equipment and accessories to ensure that its performance and safety meet the relevant standards and requirements.

12. Painting and decoration: Paint and decorate the yachts that have passed the inspection to make them more beautiful.

It should be noted that the production process of fiberglass yachts requires certain professional knowledge and skills, and it is recommended to operate under the guidance of professionals. At the same time, relevant safety regulations and operating procedures must be strictly followed during the production process to ensure the safety of operators.
