Usage requirements:
1.1 Hand lay up molding: Hand lay up molding process is the main way of producing fiberglass reinforced plastic in China. Glass fiber short cut felt, continuous felt, and sewn felt can all be used in hand lay up molding process. The use of sewn felt can reduce the number of layers and improve the efficiency of manual pasting operations. However, due to the presence of a large amount of synthetic fiber sewing threads, the bubbles in the woven felt are difficult to drive away, and there are many needle shaped bubbles in the fiberglass products, and the surface feels rough and not smooth. In addition, the sewn felt is a heavy fabric with poor coverage compared to short cut felt and continuous felt. When making products with complex shapes, it is easy to form voids at bends. The hand lay up molding process requires felt sheets to have characteristics such as fast resin penetration rate, easy elimination of bubbles, and good mold coverage.
1.2 Pultrusion Forming: Pultrusion forming process is one of the main uses of continuous felt and seam woven felt. It is generally used in combination with untwisted yarn. Using continuous felt and sewn felt as pultruded products can significantly improve the circumferential and transverse strength of the products and prevent cracking. The pultrusion molding process requires felt sheets to have uniform fiber distribution, high tensile strength, fast resin penetration rate, good flexibility and mold filling, and a certain continuous length.
1.3 RTM: Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) is a closed mold molding process. It consists of two half molds, a female mold and a male mold, as well as a pressure pump and injection gun, without the need for a press. The RTM process typically uses continuous felt and sewn felt, rather than short cut felt. The felt sheet is required to have characteristics such as easy resin penetration, good breathability, good resin abrasion resistance, and good mold covering.
1.4 Winding process: Short cut felt and continuous felt are generally used for winding and forming the resin rich layer of the product, including the inner lining layer and the outer surface layer. The requirements for glass fiber felt in the winding forming process are basically similar to those of the hand lay up method.
1.5 Centrifugal casting molding: Short cut felt is usually used as the raw material. Pre lay the short cut felt in the mold, then add resin into the rotating open mold cavity, and centrifuge to remove bubbles to make the product compact. The felt sheet is required to have characteristics such as easy infiltration and good breathability.
