What Is Fiberglass？

Glass fiber is a kind of inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance.  

I. Composition and characteristics  Glass fiber is mainly composed of silicon dioxide and metal oxides such as sodium, potassium, calcium and aluminum. It has the following characteristics:  

1. High tensile strength: it is tougher than steel wire with the same diameter and can withstand greater tension.

2.  Good heat resistance: It can maintain the stability of its physical and chemical properties at higher temperatures.

3.   Corrosion resistance: It has strong resistance to chemical substances such as acid and alkali.It is suitable for all kinds of harsh environments.

4. Good insulation: It is an excellent electrical insulation material and can be used in the electrical field.

 II. Production process  The production process of the glass fiber mainly comprises the following steps:

1. 1. preparation of raw material: mineral raw materials such as quartz sand, limestone, feldspar and that like are mix according to a certain proportion.

   2. High temperature melting: melt the mixed raw materials into liquid glass at a high temperature above 1500 ° C.

   3. wire drawing and forming:Molten glass is extruded through a very fine nozzle or bushing to form a continuous filament.

   4. cool and solidifying: that filament is rapidly cool and solidified in the air to form the glass fiber. 

III. Field of application 

1. 1. Composite material: It is combined with resin to form glass fiber reinforced plastic and other composite materials, which are widely used in the manufacture of ships, automotive parts, chemical pipelines, etc., using its high strength and corrosion resistance.

   2. Construction field: It is used to reinforce cement, gypsum and other building materials to improve their strength and durability, such as making glass fiber reinforced cement board.

   3.Electrical insulation
